Your Commute Home Forecast: Crappy
>> 22 June 2009
DCist and Washington Post are both reporting a major red line derailment with possible train fires and major injuries near Fort Totten. Red liners are advised to find another way home or a good happy hour. Expect all of Metro to fall apart and be all sorts of messed up on all lines. I'm praying that there are no major injuries on the Metro train and that this is all very overhyped.
Update: Two confirmed fatalities and over 40 people in the hospital. Metro is cleared of all victims, however, ALL LINES are having reported delays, and Red Line is not an option. DC authorities for some stupid reasoning are on media blackout, so families are unable to find out if anyone is hurt or where their loved ones are.
Update two: 4 confirmed fatalities with two serious injuries. Now WUSA 9 is saying there are potentially 3 more fatalities. Major Green/Red line delays tomorrow morning are expected as the Red Line will be closed between Silver Spring and Rhode Island. It's the deadliest Metro accident in history. Please pay attention to local news and #DC Metro on Twitter for more updates.
If you are looking for information on a loved one, DO NOT GO TO THE SCENE. Please call DC PD at 311
DC Police/ Mayor Fenty have now given us an update: 6 dead. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and the victims of this horrible accident.
